This event will take place on December 17th at the Colori Ecopaint Boutique, 2243 North Avenue, 5-9 p.m. Shop and party at the same time. Meet and support local designers (including Melissa Braswell), find great holiday deals and be entertained with music, live art, hor d'oeuvres and cocktails.

Dress For the Holiday Season

This holiday season let's be SIMPLE! Of course you can go with the classic holiday colors: gold, red and black, but don't be over the top. You do not need every color in one dress and it doesn't need to be a Hollywood ballgown.

A few tips:

*Wear a dress that is not so short that you can't be respected the next day, but not so long that you look like a prima donna.

*When in doubt, go with the "little black dress" (not too little). Sequence or a gold accent is nice with a fly heel!

Check out these holiday dresses and comment with your own tips to looking funkinbeautiful this holiday!

Fashion Connection

Technology has drastically changed the way we connect as societies, industries, and as nations across the world. The biggest communication bridge has been the Internet and the fashion world is steadily embracing it. As you may have seen with my own live blogs, fashion events and extravaganzas can be broadcast to the public as they happen no matter what the consumer's location. You can receive up to the minute updates on fashion shows, awards shows, and red carpet events from Paris, L.A., Milan, or New York.

Many houses of fashion that we adore have online stores, online fan pages, and stream their runway shows for the world to see. Why this technology shift? Why NOT! This age of consumers lives by the Internet. It is fast, direct, and not to mention cheaper to us, the deigners. The Internet (my blog,
FaceBook, twitter, and my website) has been a great tool for me in reaching my supporters.

Thank you to all of you!
Continue to stay connected with me as I keep you connected with the fashion world we all love!

Victoria Secret's New Angels

Victoria Secret added five new Angels at the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show! The Runway show was held at the Lexington Avenue Armory, Thursday, November 19. An all time favorite, supermodel Heidi Klum, hosted the event and the Black Eyed Peas, musical highlight of the night, rocked the stage.

Fergie, Black Eyed Peas lead songstress, as well as Heidi Klum blazed the stage with their corset gowns! Although Victoria Secret is known for lingerie, high fashion is hands down next on the list!

Diane Von Furstenberg and Terri Stevens

Here are some new photos from the Diane von Furstenburg event that I attended this past month. As I blogged about earlier, Diane von Furstenberg had a runway event at Neiman Marcus here in Chicago to celebrate the addition of her line to the store. The event was hot!

2009 American Music Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

This year's AMA Stars wore fashions that were anything but ordinary. The red carpet may not have been as fierce as the stage, but most stars went for it! They may have missed the target, but they went for it. The trend seemed to be white black and gold plus a little "au naturale" thanks to Lady Gaga!

Looking elegant and beautiful, Whitney received a standing ovation for her return to the stage!

I'm not all that star struck by Shakira's red carpet attire but she definitely adds flavor to the black dominance of the red carpet. On stage she rocked it in a strapless, mini, leatherette dress.

Mary J wore snake skin for her performance of "I Am". Her red carpet look was elegant and conservative.

Rhianna came straight out of the "Fifth Element" for this performance! From spinning on a windmill to a stage made of laser beams, Rhianna will not be forgotten!

Rhianna's red carpet attire was very daring per usual. This is a laser cut floral gown by Marchesa.

Neyo! Not best dressed, but still handsome.

Janet! Why?! I love a Jackson, but this is not okay! The performance was fine but this is not the fierce Janet I know!

Lady Gaga as Fierce as ever!
She never fails to make an impression. Always count on Lady Gaga to show up and show out! The best comment I have heard so far was "why didn't she just go naked?"

Carrie Underwood was definitely the queen of shimmer and shine last night.

Kelly Clarkson, this is unacceptable on the red carpet. Any dress you wear on the red carpet should scream "I am a Star!" Tell me, what is this dress saying to you?

JEN! Worst performance of the night matched with the worst performance attire of the night. This ensemble is so unflattering for her.

Jay-Z took the Dapper award for the night. His suits were classic and simple. Definitely the best dressed Man of the night!

Fergie loves to show the body, and she does just that in her edgy leo and textured tights.

Alicia Keys walks the red carpet with a Giorgio Armani dress. Although she breaks the color mold, she brings it back on stage as she dances on a rooftop with black leggings and a black jacket adorned with gold chains.
